The Air Force School was established in 1958 as a Nursery school for the children of serving IAF personnel. In 1977-78, the full-fledged school as we know it now was founded. As the name suggests, the IAF Educational and Cultural Society runs the school. Even today, the school is mainly for the children of IAF personnel but it also admits civilian children and kids of other personnel, provided there is a vacancy after the priority seats are filled.
