Woodstock School is an international coeducational residential school located in Landour, a small hill station contiguous with the town of Mussoorie, Uttarakhand, India, in the foothills of the Himalayas. Woodstock is one of the oldest residential schools in Asia, operating today as a private nonprofit institution with Indian Christian Minority Status. Woodstock offers kindergarten through Grade 12 instruction, with a residence programme beginning in Grade 6. It is fully accredited by the Middle States Association, the first school in Asia to receive accreditation in 1960.[2] In 2019 Woodstock School was officially accredited as an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, with full authorisation for both the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).[3] It is also regarded as one of the most expensive schools in India.[4]

This school is terrible. The new headmaster doesn't have a clue what he is doing and children are being bullied by the administration. Please think carefully before sending your children here.

classes forced one point of view. i was in a politics class and was laughed at by the teacher in the middle of a debate though he was supposed to be neutral. All because he didn’t agree with me. Hive mind mentality. Everyone is also forced to attend church and take a “World religion” class which is basically talking about Christianity for 10 sessions and devoting 1 session to other religions. Had to sit in class and hear a White British man tell me about Hinduism…School is definitely delusional with their preachment for liberal values while cashing heavily on their students lol. The only people i liked in the school were my assigned advisors. Not the college advisors though, as they forced you to apply to schools “within your reach.” I have just now applied to a school that they would believe is out of my reach and have got in. So do not trust these people with your future. Apply to your dream school. Counselling is not helpful and mental health is not cared for. I was literally suicidal and their solution was to do absolutely nothing. No accommodations, no help. You are given no concrete advice and blamed for all troubles you may face along the way. If you are introverted, the school will assume there is a major problem with you and take your devices. No independent thinking unless you’re in a class with a great teacher. Don’t even try speaking from a perspective that doesn’t pertain to the general Woodstock view. Worst two years of my life but some friends made it way nicer. the school made me independent but it did not do anything to support me mentally when i was struggling the most. However I am in a great university now and am exploring my own independent interests not influenced by others. Update: 7th May 2023 I cant shake this feeling away. the very thought that my parents paid so much to send me to this school for me to have teachers that laugh at me, peers that shun me, and “dorm parents” that don’t care. they sent me to this school having the mindset of every average Indian parent who wants the best for their kids. how can an international school be so closed off from varying perspectives? Why should a Hindu student be forced to attend Sunday Church? Yes, it is a Christian school but that doesn’t mean attending should be necessary and not offered as a choice. Anyways, looking back on my classes - I remember that we would have debates in my AP Government class and I would be literally terrified to even state my opinion so as to not lose the respect of my teacher/friends. In my AP english literature class, the teacher refused to publish an intimate writing piece (literally everyone else’s piece got published) just because it did not align with the teacher’s views. For one of my PE classes, I had received A+ in both my first and second semesters and in my final semester I received an F. Rather than maybe linking it to the fact that I had been suicidal, I was given an F and had to pay 500-700 dollars to take an alternate international college course to make up that grade? what school doesn’t have accommodations for situations like that? i am so glad that did not harm my admission processes. The school also had this bs system of tardy/missing class? you were supposed to wake up early in the morning and come to school to clean the walls on an empty stomach? How is that an adequate punishment? It happened to me once and it was because I did not want to attend a particular event and was caught getting lunch by a teacher? Stop forcing students to go to events that contribute nothing academically/interest-wise! At one point, dorm parents and my literal school counselor (pretty sure our interactions have to be private) literally had an intervention with me and my parents and told them how me wearing makeup made me seem insecure and that because I don’t talk much, I need to make more efforts myself. They took my phone and laptop and I couldn’t talk to any of my friends back in Delhi. Just because I preferred to be alone and read books, play games. Woodstock is not worth the money.
