Bishop Cotton Boys School had its genesis in the vision of Bishop George Lynch Cotton of Calcutta.
Bishop Cotton Boys School had its genesis in the vision of Bishop George Lynch Cotton of Calcutta. His idea was to set up schools to educate European and Eurasian children of limited means. The idea received support from the Viceroy, Lord Canning. The school in Bangalore became a reality in the hands of Rev. Samuel Thomas Pettigrew, Chaplain of St. Marks Church. Bishop Cotton School opened its doors in a humble house on High Grounds on the 19th of April, 1865, with Mr. G. Reynolds as its first Headmaster.A school whose rich history is blended with surging innovation, Bishop Cotton Boys School has left its mark on all aspects of education. Cottons is a perfect mixture of holistic education coupled with character building, co-curricular activities and sports all in a sheath of discipline and respect towards the Almighty. With a campus spread over 13 acres and state of the art technology present all over, Cottons boasts of being one of the best places to study at.After standing tall for 153 years, Bishop Cotton Boys School has won the accolade of the Eton of the East, and stands tall as Bangalores leading school, one of Indias three top-ranked schools, and the No: 1 among all metro schools in India, with students of the school who have gone on to shine in different walks of life, all over the world.

As an alumnus of Bishop Cotton Boys' School, I am immensely proud to have been part of one of India's premier educational institutions. Renowned for its rich heritage, academic excellence, and holistic development, Bishop Cotton Boys' School has consistently nurtured students to become well-rounded individuals. The school's commitment to fostering a stimulating learning environment, combined with its emphasis on character building and extracurricular achievements, truly makes it one of the best schools in the country. My time there was invaluable, shaping me into the person I am today.

I had studied in this school from 2005 - 2017(LKG to 10th).As long as John Zacharaiah was the principal, this school was good, although there were a few teachers who were not good and were partial toward Christian students. However, after John Zacharaiah's demise, this school has completely lost its standards. My younger brother also goes here and every now and then I hear complaints about the students. The students are very uncultured and rowdy, stealing my brother's books before the exam. They also have a stupid obsession with haircuts, and the prefects think they are god. Some teachers are religiously biased, favouring Christian students over others and only having a high regard for toppers, as if others do not have any value. Is this how you will nurture the next generation of people? Also, some teachers do not know the subject properly and teach wrong things, especially the hindi teacher my brother mentioned to me.That teacher also behaves rather inappropriately, scratching his groin in front of students and touching the children's stationary items and books with those same hands. Yuck!.Also a foul odour comes off from his shirt. He does not teach the subject properly, writing wrong spellings in hindi and my brother learns the wrong spelling and pronunciation of those words.
This school is no longer what it used to be.

the reason i dont like this school is it has a great name but inside there is just bunch of rowdys one time my son's kannada book was taken by someone and recently he had his exam's and he couldn't study for it we had to ask other peple to give notes and after the exam someone came back to him and gave it and said "i am so sorry for taking ur book mistakely and after exam's my son wanted to play for a bit but the security guards were not letting my son play because there were cars of the other side of the field my son got angry and even cried because they dont let them play principle are taking kids playing articles and not giving it back . So this is my review to this school

Worst faculty from the security guard at gate to school management, the head security guard at the main gate started fighting and using abusive language with 2 ladies and small children in the car because he didn't see us enter the administrative office ,the students fight on the roads like animals think 100 times before going here they discriminate on the basis of religion and force christianity on all the students the catholic teachers ridicule children from other faiths and the infrastructure is poorly maintained and filthy I won't be sending my kids here

I studied at Bishop Cotton Boys' School from 1969 to 1976. It is a prestigious school with very high standards. The school has many notable alumni. I am in the USA for 37 years now working as an engineer in a senior role. Hard work and discipline and sincerity make any student a good citizen and Bishop Cotton emphasizes on these good moral values besides high standards in various subjects. Any student privileged to study at Bishop Cotton is in fact a lucky person. But there is a lot of hard work to do at a prestigious institution. It is not easy. It is a school not for the lazy or the take it easy type.

It's as worst as it can get... Wouldn't recommend sending your child here unless you want them to get bullied or become a bully... The crowd is so rowdy and chapri with absolutely no manners.
Reccommend the instution looks into this and improve.

The school is very old fashioned the teachers are very rude and not understanding to the students.
The students should find a friend in every teacher who they can talk to freely but In this school the teachers are the opposite .
The sub coordinator of senior school is a very inappropriate teacher , who teaches Hindi .
I have complained about him many time but there is no response

While driving along my usual route to work, I passed by Bishop Cottons Boys School, right around the time when their school day was ending. I couldn't help but notice the large number of children outside, and the traffic was moving slowly due to the school bus and other vehicles. Suddenly, I witnessed a child on the school bus opening a biscuit packet, taking out the biscuits, and tossing the empty packet onto the road from his open window near his seat.
It struck me that this might be an isolated incident involving just one child, but when I glanced outside the school compound wall, I noticed numerous wrappers, bottles, and other pieces of litter scattered around. It made me wonder if all of this litter was also left behind by these excited students heading home. It's a reminder that we all share responsibility for the environment we call "Our World."
I believe the school should regularly monitor and address such actions and activities as part of their social responsibility and as a valuable learning opportunity for their students.

Management is worst, do not cooperate with parents for one identity of certificate for adhaar purpose
1. One parent’s adhaar is sufficient to make child fresh adhaar card they denied to give the document
2. Due to child not having the adhaar card child was removed from NCC even after getting selected putting his all hard work
Upon request for the document they make us wait for three hours still did not provide the document. not even adhar even for contact updates they make the process lengthy purposefully. Hope management works on this to make it more convenient for parents.
Management is not able to handle a single request which creates a doubt on their integrity.
