OUR CAMPUSThe Canadian International School (CIS) provides a pre-kindergarten to Grade 12 education for families in Bangalore. We seek to nurture and support children to be self-motivated and responsible learners who engage with the world through the development of conceptual understandings, competencies, and character development to contribute to the world around them.
Founded in 1996, CIS uncovers learning through international curricula that appropriately challenges all aspects of student learning. RECOGNITIONThe School has been accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC) since 2010. CIS is also the first school in Bangalore authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organisation for the Diploma Program since 2000.

- CIS follows the Cambridge Primary curriculum in Early Years, using an inquiry-based, experience-focused approach.
- Early Years Program includes Pre-Kindergarten (3 ), Junior Kindergarten (4 ), and Senior Kindergarten (5 ), with specialist classes like Art, Music, and PE.
- Strong emphasis on foundational literacy to prepare young learners for reading and writing success.
- Elementary Cambridge Primary curriculum is rigorous yet holistic, focusing on English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies with engaging, experiential learning.

- Smooth transition from Elementary to Middle School with Cambridge Lower Secondary curriculum covering Mathematics, English, Humanities, PE, Arts, World Languages, and Science.
- Grade 9 and 10 students follow the IGCSE, a globally recognized qualification that prepares them for the IB Diploma.
- IGCSE students study 10 exam subjects, with ESL support as needed.
- CIS offers the IB Diploma Program in Grades 11 and 12, recognized globally for high school completion and university preparation.

EXPERIENTIAL LEARNINGOur K-12 Experiential Learning (EL) program fosters personal and academic growth through exploring concepts from classes in real world applications. Classroom concepts and competencies are brought to life through on-campus activities, day trips, and longer, week-long excursions; students grow personally and academically as they engage with global and local issues, meet new people, discover new places, and explore ideas beyond the classroom.Through the framework of our core values (Caring, Inspiration, Integrity, Joy, Respect) and student reflections, the program adds a powerful piece to the growth of the whole-child. Canadian International School Admission Procedure
Admissions ProcessAssessments are required for all grades at CIS, including English and Math tests, and class observations. Applicants must submit the past two years' report cards to highlight academic and personal growth.
- Early Years (Ages 3-5):Children must meet age-appropriate milestones, such as being potty trained and eating independently. We accept both native and non-native English speakers, requiring character reports and curriculum samples from prior daycare or kindergarten programs. For long-distance applicants, a signed confirmation of Kindergarten Admissions Guidelines is required. After arrival, placement may be adjusted based on teacher feedback.
- Elementary & Middle School (Grades 3-8):Students must take the MAP test in English and Math, either on-site or remotely with their current school. A grade-level writing sample is also required. Report cards from the past two years must be submitted, and the $200 application fee paid before testing.
- High School (Grades 9-12):For IGCSE and IBDP, students take English and Math tests and submit the last two years' report cards. Conditional acceptance may be offered based on test results and academic history. Applicants work with the Admissions Office, College Guidance Counselor, and IB Coordinator to ensure appropriate course selection. The $200 application fee applies from Grade 3 onwards.

Schedule a School Visit:Visits are Monday to Friday, 9 am - 3 pm, lasting 1.5-2 hours. You’ll tour the campus, meet teachers, and review the curriculum. Bring past two years' reports. Virtual tours are available for long-distance families.

Schedule Shadow Days (KG) or Entrance Test (Grades 1-11):After meeting, schedule a Kindergarten observation or Entrance Test (Grades 3-11). Long-distance tests can be arranged at the current school.

Notification of Admission:Receive application status within two weeks after observation or test.

Acceptance:Upon acceptance, a $2000 registration fee holds your seat.
