About Nahar International School

The Nahar International School (NIS) was set up by the Nahar Foundation, a Trust registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act.

The Nahar International School (NIS) was set up by the Nahar Foundation, a Trust registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act. The School Board comprises of distinguished educationists and administrators. The School Board governs the school. In addition, the school has an Advisory Council comprising men and women of eminence from various fields of life.

The Principal has overall responsibility for the educational operation of NIS whereas the Nahar Foundation is responsible for financial operations. The School is divided into four Sections, the Early Years Foundation Section, the Primary Section, the Secondary Section and the Senior Secondary Section.

Our curriculum is designed to provide the best possible all-round education to each of our students through a comprehensive programme. The aim is to produce inquiring, confident, open-minded children who are reflective in their thinking, balanced and well-disciplined in their behaviour; and grow up to be caring and responsible persons positively engaging with society and the world. Nahar International School follows the Cambridge International Examination (CIE), Cambridge, UK, curriculum till Grade X and offers IB Diploma Programme affiliated to the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO) Geneva, Switzerland for grades XI and XII. These programmes have the greatest respect and the widest acceptance from leading universities throughout the world.

It is the policy of the Nahar International School that every student should be provided a fair chance to education. NIS believes in the principles of inclusive education and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, colour, gender, nationality, cultural and economic background or special needs and gifted children, and seeks to accept all qualified students who apply. A very nice educational palace, where u can obtain a lot of knowledge. You get every facilities according to your necessities. It consists of IGCSE and IBDP CURRICULUM. But the main point is about the fee structure which is too high as compared to other school, i might suggest them to reduce their expenses. ( rest all the school is doing their best).

My kids were enrolled in NIS for a couple of years. Compared to the public schools in northeast USA,our experience was disappointing. The rigor was missing in the elementary grades. They claim to use the Scholastic reading scale; but don’t share the Scholastic level of your child. So you wouldn’t know what books to buy for your kids. Their official line is “we don’t want you to compare your kid with others”. The teachers didn’t quite seem to know much about the Scholastic system. The math level isn’t up to the international standards. They claim to have great scores in IGCSE tests but none of those tests are administered at independent testing centers; so their veracity is doubtful. The extracurricular activities were pitiful. Retention of teachers was another issue. For us, this felt like a school where wealthy parents sent their kids; without introspection of what their kids were learning. If you are a returning NRI, there are much better schools in the Powai area. They may not have the fancy facilities but certainly compensate in other areas.
