The Valley School, Bangalore – Where nature is the teacher

“A school is a place where one learns both the importance of knowledge and its limitation. It is a place where one learns to observe the world without a particular point of view or conclusion.” – J. Krishnamurti

One of the foremost teachers of the world, J. Krishnamurti worked towards awakening people through knowledge. He always stressed that schools must help children break the shackles of self-centered action so that they grow up with focused minds that are not riddled with conflict.

The Valley School in Bangalore was built on the ethos and teachings of the great man. It is a part of the Krishnamurti Foundation of India and like every other Krishnamurti School, it focuses on educating the entire human being. This includes emotional, social, and physical development along with intellectual development. This approach to teaching has made the school one of the best ICSE schools in Bangalore.

Let’s take a closer look at this wonderful school to understand its approach to education.

Location

The wonderful school is nestled amidst nature in Thatguni Post, Kanapura Road in Bangalore. It has expansive green & open spaces, giving children the freedom to learn beyond the classroom.

Curriculum

The Valley School offers classes up to grade 12. It follows the ICSE curriculum up to grade 10 and the ISC curriculum for grades 11 and 12.

Infrastructure

It is needless to say at this point that the school’s infrastructure is unlike any other. Right from the classrooms to the playgrounds, everything is inspired by nature. Here’s a closer look:

Classrooms

All classrooms at The Valley School have a stunning view of flora and fauna. They are equipped with multiple teaching aids but learning is never restricted to these classrooms. More often than not, the teachers take lessons outside to make the experiential.

Laboratories

The school has a dedicated science center, which houses the physics, chemistry, biology, and home science laboratories. The same science center also has a computer laboratory and a seminar hall.

Library

Reading is an integral part of growing up because it taps in various intelligences and helps children open themselves up to creativity, imagination, and the world around them. At this wonderful school, the library has a great number of titles for all children.

Banyan tree

The Banyan tree has special significance here because children gather under this magnanimous tree regularly for a variety of purposes.

Art village

Artisans from across the country come to the Art Village in the campus to showcase their skills. The dedicated space is nothing short of a platform for children and adults alike to nurture their creativity.

Study center

The dedicated study center is stunning to say the least. Again, perched among lush greenery, the center was established keeping J. Krishnamurti’s vision in mind. The atmosphere here is serene and calls for reflection and deep study.

Playground

Kho-kho fields, basketball courts, football fields, jungle gym, and the multipurpose ground together offer children a great scope for entertainment and physical activity. Active children are happy children and this happiness affects all aspects of their growth. This is why sport is given equal importance at The Valley School.

Nature conservation

Land Care is an integral part of the curriculum. Children of all classes learn different techniques of land care such as water conservation, cleanliness, and natural vegetation. It is an ongoing process for children up to grade 8. Higher class students engage in the learning seasonally.

Dining hall

The large dining hall in the campus can accommodate all students together. Nutritious food is served to the children every day.

Fee Structure

The admission fee of 2500/- towards the application form, and the average fee of the school is Rs. 3,25,000

Academics

The Valley School follows the Mixed Age Group learning because it does not believe in sorting children in different grades. Children from ages 6 to 12 are divided into 3 groups, thus:

  • Entry level group: Age 6
  • Junior school: Ages 7, 8, and 9
  • Middle school: Ages 10, 11, and 12

Students from age 13 follow mainstream education and are sorted into specific classes from grade 8 to grade 12.

Regardless of the grade, though, holistic, nature-driven learning is followed. As you may have noticed by now, the school has its own unique way of nurturing its students with the help of nature and by far, the results have been outstanding.

If you are looking for one of the top ICSE schools in Bangalore, you cannot ignore The Valley School!
