"St. Thomas Academy had humble beginnings. Late Fr. Antonio D'Souza, a visionary, started a kindergarten class, in November 1968. In 1968, under the aegis of Cardinal Valerian Gracias, Archbishop of Bombay, the present parish of Our Lady of the Rosary was established. A piece of land was procured for the Church and the School. On March 19, 1969, foundation stone of the school building was laid. Fund raising was not easy, but through the herculean efforts of Fr.Antonio, a princely sum of Rs.4 lacs was collected. The Catholic community of Bombay diocese contributed almost the entire sum. The school building took shape in 1969."
