Abhaya School – Helping children grow into free and integrated individuals

When parents and educationalists come together to tackle the concerns related to mainstream education, schools like Abhaya are established. Worried that modern education may not be able to provide all-around development, a group of parents and teachers founded the school.

The founders researched a number of curriculam and syllabi and ended up choosing the Waldorf Curriculum. They found inspiration and answers to their concerns in this curriculum and the parents of the students are just as happy with the approach. As a result, what started as a small institution with a strength of 7 is now a popular school with around 300 students and 35 teachers.

We are going to learn all aspects of the school in detail through this article.

Academics

The teaching approach followed at Abhaya focuses on a separate aspect of growing up at every stage.

    1. Early Childhood Stage: This includes children of ages 3 to 6 years. At this stage, the entire curriculum focuses on body building or building health, enabling children to develop their neurological processes and fine internal organs.
  1. Middle Childhood: Children of the ages 7 to 13 years go through multiple physical and psychological changes. The curriculum at this stage focuses on molding children to follow the right path. The school follows the “Class Teacher Years” practice and throughout this stage, a teacher accompanies the children.
  2. High School: NCERT books and the CBSE syllabus prepare children for their examinations at this stage. Subject teaching begins with multiple teaching techniques mingled with activities such as dramatics, craft, sports, and more.
