World Grandparents Day
Grandparents are considered as an epitome of selfless love & New Horizon Gurukul celebrates World Grandparents Day every year on 13th September to make the children appreciate their grandparents who bring absolute joy and wisdom in their lives. Children are taught and realize the importance of Grandparents in their lives. NIVE also organizes a competition for Grades 1-11.
This competition is believed by New Horizon School as a small step towards reinstating the respect, values and love towards all Grandparents.
Sri Krishna Janmashtami, “Swagatam Krishna ”
Janmashtami is one of India’s most celebrated festivals and it marks the birth of Lord Krishna, one of the most popular deities worshiped. ISKCON Bangalore organized 20 hours of online events on this auspicious occasion. This was the first ever Digital Celebration of Sri Krishna Janmashtami, “Swagatam Krishna” which was held on 11th and 12th August. This event provided a wonderful opportunity to the students of New Horizon Gurukul to be a part of the event and pay their tribute to Lord Krishna through their beautiful cultural performances. Devotional dance, song and shloka chanting were performed by the students.
Samskriti
NIVE, National Institute of Values Education prioritizes individual talent of every child. For this sole purpose every year it conducts Annual Competitions, “NIVE – SAMSKRITI ”.
Childhood is said to be the most beautiful and precious years of a child,especially the growing up years. It is very important for a child to learn and engage himself in more and more activities. To promote this spirit of learning in a fun way NIVE in association with New Horizon Gurukul Values plus program provides an opportunity to the students to compete in competitions which would eventually flourish their talents and also build a healthy competitive spirit among them.
Heritage Fest
ISKCON Bangalore organized “The Heritage Fest Online ”, an International competition on the evening of Sri Krishna Janmashtami 2020 based on traditional Indian arts, culture, and wisdom. The students of New Horizon Gurukul actively participated in this biggest online cultural competition. This provided the students a platform to showcase their talents and to win awards recognition on a global platform.
Value Samskriti
India is the land of festivals and among these many festivals, Dasara and Navratri are both festivals which symbolizes the victory of good over evil. This occasion is celebrated all over India in many flavors such as The dance gathering and daily pooja to the dolls in Mysore , Durga Puja in Kolkata etc.
NIVE, Values Plus conducts a very fascinating contest for the students who are interested in photography and videography. The interested students have to capture the festive vibes through their lens showcasing their skills, creativity and joy.
Akshaya Patra School Visits by Students
New Horizon Gurukul takes major care in developing and inculcating good habits and values among students. Holistic development is prioritized at top. Children are nurtured to develop good habits and imbibe the virtue of kindness and sharing. Along with the academic curriculum, New Horizon Gurukul values plus provide the students with hands-on experience. The students visited the BBMP Government schools by the Akshaya Patra Foundation. The students served the mid day meals to the students of primary classes which was provided by the Akshaya Patra programme, in association with ISKCON.
The children through this visit would have gained an enriching experience. The students enjoyed their interaction with their little friends and apart from this they got a chance of doing something for their less fortunate friends.
The Akshaya Patra Foundation School Visits by Students 2019- 20
Akshaya Patra Foundation serves thousands of children everyday and in 2019-20, the New Horizon Gurukul provided the opportunity to its students to visit the mega kitchen. The students were given a tour of the state art kitchen and then accompanied by teachers and values plus team, students went to visit the government schools where mid meals are provided. This visit provided a great learning for the students and at the same time helped them to inculcate values and morals such as humility, kindness, compassion among them. They served lunch to the children and had a very happy, engaging, interactive session with them. The students also showed their gratitude towards those children through a collage.
