In the year 1973 Shri. Vishwasrao Chowgule donated Rs.50,000/- this amount helped Maratha Mitra Mandal in realizing its dream to purchase its own land and to build the structure of five rooms for the school on this present site.
After 1974 the Shishu Vihar was named as Chowgule Shishu Vihar.
The School has completed 60 years of its existence and is a Model Established to impart quality education to the wards of middle class and low income group parents.
The school commits itself to provide a stress-free learning environment that would develop competent, confident and fully harmonized citizens. The school provides education in Science and Commerce streams up to Senior Secondary level with unique feature of imparting compulsory Marathi teaching till VIII Std. and optional at Secondary and Senior Secondary levels. The school is situated in Karol Bagh and has an excellent record in developing young minds in all spheres of activities.

Strength:-
At present the school has three storey building, having three blocks named Nursery Block, Basement Block and New Building Block with around 40 rooms, 5 well equipped Laboratories, Audio-visual Room, Smart Class learning facility. Canteen providing healthy food. No junk food and aerated drinks are served. Library and Reading Room with 8 thousand books. Basement hall which has a capacity to accommodate around 300 students.

No. of students enrolled in the school are 1000 plus. 42 well qualified teachers, 5 Office Staff and 10 Support Staff.
Salient Features of the School :-
In addition to the regular classroom teaching for the overall development of the students wide variety of activities are conducted.
Sports :- Special coaching in Skating , Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Badminton and Chess. Zonal participation of students in Kho – Kho, Kabadi, Volley Ball and Basket Ball. School band is a must for all zonal functions.
Cultural :-The child gets platform to exhibit his cultural talent through dramatics, songs and dances. Inter house Competitions are held.
Students enthusiastically participate in cultural fiesta like Ganesh Utsav, Annual Sports Day, Annual Cultural Day, Special Assemblies , Children’s Day, Tilak Punyatithi and Shivaji Jayanti.
Trips and excursions are conducted to enhance their development. Picnics, excursions and visits to exhibitions are conducted every year.
Huge students participation is recorded in “Science Olympiad Foundation” in subjects like English, Science, Mathematics and Cyber.
Various Quizzes and Competitions are conducted by outside agencies like TOP RAMEN, MAGGI, DISC, NIE , SUNFEAST. Link Pens, Mother Diary, Post Office of India, Interschool competition.
Handwriting and Drawing and Painting Competitions are conducted by CAMLIN and students are taught Block Printing, Tie and Dye and Paper Mache.
Eco Club Activities like Mushroom Cultivation , are conducted along with various competitions. Eco week is celebrated every year. Various students are encouraged to love and take care of their environment. Various drives like “Say no to plastic”, “Keep your environment clean” , “Go for hygienic food” etc., are conducted.School Magazine – Expression of the students in the form of their imaginations, dreams for Mother Earth and Mother Country are published in the form of the school magazine “GUNJAN”.Various workshops are conducted for the students and teachers by the school and outside agencies.
